This season
Belle was selected by Ski and Snowboard Australia (SSA) to join their
National development Squad for Border Cross and Parallel GS (PGS). Membership
of the squad is considered to be official pathway to the Junior World
Cup and the Olympics. This is a significant honor, a fact that Belle
recognizes and she will be aiming to do her best in appreciation of
this.
In
December 2007, Belle is traveling to Steamboat Springs, Colorado to
train with Thedo Remmelink, Pro-Am Race Coach. It is a wonderful opportunity
to be trained by Thedo, who has redefined snowboard racing in the US.
Several of his riders made the US Team and he also coached 3 athletes
at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy. Thedo’s mission
is to provide a solid training base while developing the right mentality
to excel. Thedo is a former Olympian himself and coached successfully
for the World Cup before going to Steamboat.
With
the help of Thedo, Belle will be training for and participating in selected
Snowboard events throughout the USA.
Right
now whilst waiting to travel to Steamboat she has been developing complimentary
skills and maintaining her fitness by being coached to surf by Prue
Latchford, (2001 Australian Women’s Masters Champion - East Coast
Surf School at Point Leo), cross country bike riding on the family farm,
Pilates once week and is being trained ON Sundays by Rachel Johnson,
Gymnast, Program Manager for the Ski and Snowboard Australia Aerial
Skiing Development.
